Before my trip, some friends warned me that parking in San Sebastián can be risky.
So, for once, I decide to be sensible and park the van in an underground garage—where I also spend the night. It’s certainly not comfortable, but at least it’s safe.
At first, I don’t quite understand the city. Everything I’ve seen so far looks rather run-down and bleak. But as I dive into the city center, I see a completely different picture. The old town and the coastline feel like a dream—almost like King’s Landing from Game of Thrones. Incredible!
In the afternoon, I decide to try my luck with street music at the city beach. Even while setting up my equipment, I get a strange feeling. After just two songs, two police officers approach me and force me to stop playing. Luckily, they are friendly. One of them used to live in Bremen and speaks surprisingly good German. I get the feeling he’s happy to practice his German again—which turns out to be my lucky break. I have to show my ID, and they take down my details, but in the end, I get away with just a warning.
