Day #2 – Münster – In the Eye of the Storm

For a few days now, I’ve been struggling with an infection in my right eye. When I arrive in Münster, I first head to the university hospital, only to be turned away.

A few days earlier, I was in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, spending time in the wilderness with friends by a cozy fireplace. Back in Schwerin, I had already tried to find an eye doctor—but without success. Google Maps said there were plenty, but all I found were AfD campaign posters. Thankfully, Münster is a different story. I finally get treatment for my eye. Diagnosis: chalazion.

Parking in Münster is an absolute nightmare—but maybe for good reason. It’s freezing, and I have to walk nearly 2 km from the parking lot into the city—with all my gear. I’ve learned not to overthink it; there are always excuses not to do something. So I set off, bundled up with my trolley, microphone stand, and guitar in hand, at 2 degrees Celsius.

It was worth it! A few familiar and new faces showed up. The police were kind enough to let me play. In the evening, I hung out with good friends from the Haldern Pop Connection and enjoyed the comfort of a pull-out sofa and a functioning heat pump.
