I interrupt my road trip to fly back to Germany for two support shows with Herrenmagazin. Crazy? Maybe. But when Deniz Jaspersen calls and asks if I want to open in Frankfurt and Stuttgart, you don’t say no – even if you’re somewhere down in Portugal at the time.
Back in January, I already knew I’d be on the road. I slept on it for one night, booked the flights, said yes. €337 just for the ride – a roundtrip through all the feels.
In Frankfurt, I meet up with Stefan, one of my oldest friends and guitarist of my punk band Lucky Ginger. The next morning, fluff drops by – yes, that Fluff, the one I wrote the song “Vom Stehen und Fallen” about: a forever-young skater dude trying to make it through the ups and downs.
The show at Nachthafen Frankfurt? Pure magic from the first second. The crowd is attentive, warm, and even sings along. After me, Herrenmagazin kick off their “Du hast hier nichts verloren” tour and blow the roof off. We end the night in a haze at Treibsand – just like the good old days, but with better drinks.
Financially? Not really worth it.
Emotionally? Absolutely.

My tips for Frankfurt:
• Rob a bank (to pay for the flight)
• Order Mispelchen nonstop at Treibsand
• Catch up with old friends – always a good idea
