It’s cold, but the sun is shining. At the entrance to the pedestrian zone, I’m greeted by an elephant statue and a sign above it: “Begging Forbidden.” Right away, I get the feeling that busking here won’t bring much success, but hope dies last.
I find a nice spot on the market square. It’s cold but sunny. Unfortunately, after just three songs, city officials show up and ask me to stop playing. I try not to get too frustrated with the city’s strict regulations and leave Hamm with €0.70 in my guitar case versus €1.50 spent on parking.
I feel lighter now and look forward to crossing the border into Belgium.
